This course is intended for people who haven't used Linux before, but who who are very experienced in using and administrating Windows systems and who want to learn more about using Linux on servers or workstations.
Linux for the technically minded covers the following topics:
- Installation: How to install Linux on your computer either as the only operating system or as a dual-boot system with Windows. Partitioning, choosing the right packages for servers and work station installations.
- Keeping your system secure and up-to-date: Configuration tools and options (command line and GUI)
- Saving time with the command line: Automatic backups, batch-processing files, shell scripts and common commands
- Linux as a server: Setting-up and configuring services and boot scripts.
