This course is intended for people with no or little programming experience.
Perl is a stable, cross platform programming language. It is used for mission critical projects in the public and private sectors.
Perl takes the best features from other languages, such as C, awk, sed, sh, and BASIC, among others and Perls database integration interface (DBI) supports third-party databases including Oracle, Sybase, Postgres, MySQL and others.
Perl for beginners covers the following topics:
- Introduction to Perl and when and how to use it.
- Basic programming techniques: Variables (Scalars, Lists and Hashes)
- Control structures: Conditional statements and loops
- Structuring your code: Creating sub-routines
- Using built in functions and funtionality: Regular expressions
- Interacting with user and file handling
- CPAN and modules: How to use other peoples code in your projects
